The icons represent the type of fortification although this can be toggled to show the extent of the remains. The display can be filtered by fortification type. The maps can be zoomed in by double clicking or by using the Pan/Zoom widget. The map is also draggable. The map can be toggled between Map/Aerial/Birds Eye views. Hovering over an icon gives the name of the fortification, its type and the extent of the remains. Double clicking on the icon gives more detail and a clickable link to the full detail for the site. It will take a couple of minutes for some of the counties with a large number of fortifications to load.
