A possible castle site, immediately to the north f Clifford Castle, has been noted on aerial photographs between the old railway and the river. However, investigations on the ground have failed to find anything resembling a castle - it is probably a land-fill or quarry for the railway. (Shoesmith)

Gatehouse Comments

The given map reference seems slightly incorrect, the site probably being 100-200m south of the given reference. The suggestion it is an earthwork connected with the railway rather than medieval seems entirely reasonable.
