Natural mound. Formerly noted as a possible motte (Downman E A, 1916). (Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust HER)
A mound immediately behind the farmstead of Pen vain is marked upon the Ordnance sheet as an antiquity, but it is quite evidently a natural projection formed by the falling away of the soil from the greater part of a central core. (RCAHMW 1913)
