At Blackpool Gate sited on level ground near the Black Lyne, is one end of a bastle against the outside of which a later building now roofless, has been constructed. The old wall stands only to a height of about 5 ft and is broken away at the ends. It contains a central doorway with a narrow opening 25" wide, between rebated jambs, spanned by a stone lintel.
